Mission and new unity movements

We at CTE recognise the growth of new unity movements across the UK in the past decade. We delight in churches working together and want to support these movements in any way we can. We are pleased to have close working relationships with those from HOPE and Gather.
New unity movements have helped put a missional thrust back into the ecumenical landscape making doing mission together the guiding principle and focusing on relationships between church leaders at local level key.
The summer 2019 meeting of the Gather network saw over 150 church leaders and other parachurch organisations and charities meet to encourage one another in mission and unity. You can read a full length report here. Led by Roger Sutton, GATHER is a national network of vibrant mission unity movements in villages, towns, cities and boroughs.
HOPE too is continuing to bring creative resources for the wider church focusing on simple and practical steps all churches and Christians can be involved in.

Three excellent ideas from HOPE are:

HOPE spaces

Using the Talking Jesus research as a launching pad, HOPE spaces reminds us that 41% of practising Christians say that a spiritual experience or an experience of the love of Jesus was a key influence in their coming to faith – so if we help more people to experience God’s love and presence, more of them will come to know him for themselves.
In 2020, 24-7 Prayer and HOPE Together invite you to unite as local churches to host a creative, public prayer space. Invite your community to experience God through talking and listening to Him in prayer.

Prayer 2020

?HOPE Together is inviting Christians of all denominations to pray for 20 minutes every month throughout 2020, on the 20th of each month at 20:20. A great way to get people praying specifically for friends and family who don’t yet know Jesus.

Advance 2020

Sponsored and supported by HOPE alongside the Evangelical Alliance, The Message Trust, The Redeemed Christian Church of God and The Church of England, Advance: The Evangelist Movement exists to promote and stir up the gift of the evangelist, building towards a huge year of outreach throughout the UK in 2020.

Through Evangelist Group Mentoring and the personal witness training offered from Advance Bootcamps, they are committed to equipping and empowering those who have a desire to prioritise the sharing of the gospel, be it from a stage or a one-to-one conversation. Alongside this the team are praying and planning together for what an intentional, strategic, and spirit-filled year of mission will look like across the UK in 2020 as we commit to taking the gospel to the nation on an unprecedented scale. Advance2020 will give churches, ministries and individuals opportunities, encouragement and support to reach the nation with the powerful hope of the gospel.
